Sutton Hoo olielamp Viking sieraden & hangers De hangeroc was de overjurkThis lamp is based on the 7th century original found in the Anglo Saxon boat grave of Sutton Hoo. Oil lamps like these were used everywhere by the Germanic tribes. A comparable Viking original has been found in the 9th century Oseberg ship. It can be lit with beeswax just like the originals, simply adding some small wooden pieces as a wick, or a piece of dried tinder fungus. To extinguish it, simply place a wooden plank on the tray.
