The inside comes complete with its original nine-panel butterscotch-coloured leather liner
Both the peak and front of the panel retain remnants of black stitching where insignia were removed from the cap

Instituted 21 February 1854 by the Senate of the Free City of Frankfurt. (1854 issue). Constructed of bronze, on loop for suspension, consisting of a Cross Patte with ribbed arms, the obverse bearing an inscription of 1848 UND 1849 across the three and nine oclock arms, with the six oclock arm bearing an oval oak leaf wreath, the twelve oclock arm bearing a Frankfurt style eagle, the reverse bearing an inscription of FR
